How To Measure Your Windows And Doors In Advance Of An Installation
For the moment, Amber Home Improvements has sadly had to cease fitting new windows and doors at customer’s homes, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still order them. If you wish, learn about the cost and value of window replacement here.
Of course you can, and while we wait for the current restrictions to be lifted, our team will do much of the preparation involved in getting them ready for installation.
If you decide to put through an order at this time for any of our windows and doors fixed by Southern custom shutters – Kansas-city, we will need a slight favour – can you measure up for us?
We hope you don’t mind us asking, but as it isn’t safe for one of our fitters to visit, it would be useful if you could measure up so that we have a rough idea of what window or door sizes your house needs, in the meantime.
As soon as home visits are permitted again, we can come and take the exact measurements we require.
This is what we need you to do, and also a few points to consider before buying new windows and doors:
Windows
- We need to know both the width and height of your windows.
- Take the measurements in millimetres, centimetres or inches.
- For the width and height, measure from brick-to-brick.
- Choose a window material – UPVC or aluminium.
- Choose a window design.
- If you want a like-for-like window design, please send us a photograph of your current windows.
- If you have seen a particular window design you like somewhere, please send us a photograph of it.
Doors
- We need to know both the width and height of your door.
- Take the measurements in either metric or imperial units.
- For the width, measure from brick-to-brick, and for the height, measure from brick-to-floor.
- Inform us if you want your new door to open in or open out.
- Also inform us if your current door is hinged on the left and right when you look at it from the outside.
- If you want a like-for-like door design, please send us a photograph of your current door.
Once you are done, contact us and we will take the measurements off you so we can get started with the work behind the scenes.
